Middle Eastern Stuffed Onions

Directions

  1. 1Peel the onions.
  2. 2Cut an X-shape into the bottom of each onion.
  3. 3Boil the onions in water in a pot.
  4. 4Cover the pot and let it boil.
  5. 5Dice the tomatoes.
  6. 6Chop the dill.
  7. 7Chop the mint.
  8. 8Chop the parsley.
  9. 9Mince the garlic.
  10. 10Add rice to a bowl.
  11. 11Add vegan beef to the bowl.
  12. 12Add the chopped herbs, diced tomatoes, and minced garlic to the bowl.
  13. 13Add pine nuts to the bowl.
  14. 14Pour olive oil into the bowl.
  15. 15Add tomato paste, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  16. 16Mix all ingredients in the bowl by hand.
  17. 17Separate the layers of the boiled onions.

  20. 20Pour pomegranate molasses into a measuring cup.
  21. 21Squeeze lemon juice into the measuring cup.

  24. 24Pour the sauce over the stuffed onions in the pan.
