Boston Cream Pie Hawaiian Roll Donuts

Directions

  1. 1Separate the Hawaiian rolls.
  2. 2Brush the rolls with melted butter.
  3. 3Place the rolls on a baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees F for about 5 to 7 minutes until lightly browned and toasted.
  4. 4Whisk pudding mix, 1 1/2 cups milk, vanilla, and salt together in a bowl until well combined and thickened.
  5. 5Fold in whipped topping once the pudding is thickened.
  6. 6Refrigerate the filling for 10 minutes to set up; transfer filling to a piping bag or a plastic bag.
  7. 7Create a hole in the center of each roll using a paring knife.
  8. 8Pipe the filling into each roll, about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
  9. 9Scald the remaining 1/4 cup milk in the microwave for 30 to 40 seconds.
  10. 10Place chocolate chips in a shallow bowl, and pour in hot milk. Let stand 10 seconds; stir until smooth.
  11. 11Heat in the microwave for 15 seconds if necessary to finish melting the chocolate.
  12. 12Line a tray with parchment.
  13. 13Dip the top of each filled donut into the chocolate.
  14. 14Place the dipped donuts on the tray to cool completely and for the chocolate to harden slightly, about 20 minutes, or refrigerate for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
