Mom's Spaghetti Bake

Directions

  1. 1Brown 1 pound of ground beef in a pan.
  2. 2Drain any grease from the ground beef.
  3. 3Add a spaghetti sauce packet to the ground beef.
  4. 4Add an 8-ounce can of tomato sauce to the ground beef.
  5. 5Add half a cup of water to the ground beef mixture.
  6. 6Simmer the meat mixture for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. 7While the meat mixture simmers, start the spaghetti.
  8. 8Take half a pound of spaghetti, break it into thirds.
  9. 9Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions.
  10. 10Once cooked, drain the water from the spaghetti and set it aside.
  11. 11In the same pot or a different skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  12. 12Add 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  13. 13Stir in half a cup of water.
  14. 14Slowly stir in 1 cup of evaporated milk.
  15. 15Cook the mixture on low for about 2 to 3 minutes until it starts to thicken.
  16. 16Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
  17. 17Add a fourth of a cup of grated parmesan and stir until combined.
  18. 18In a 9x13 baking dish, add half of the spaghetti.
  19. 19Add half of the meat mixture on top of the spaghetti.
  20. 20Pour all of the cheese sauce mixture over the meat and spaghetti.
  21. 21Spread the cheese sauce around to ensure even coverage.
  22. 22Add the other half of the spaghetti.
  23. 23Add the other half of the meat mixture.
  24. 24Add one more cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  25. 25Bake in a 375-degree oven for 20 minutes.
