Add chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and pepper to a bowl.

Let the chicken marinate for 5 minutes while you heat a skillet with oil or cooking spray.

Add chicken in a single layer to the hot skillet and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes until dark and caramelized.

Flip the chicken and cook for another 2 minutes until cooked through.

Remove the chicken from the pan.

Add the leftover marinade and brown sugar to the skillet and stir until dissolved.

Turn the heat to high and bring the sauce to a bubble.

Mix cornstarch and water until smooth, then stir this mixture into the sauce.

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce thicken for about 30 seconds.

Add the cooked chicken back into the pan and toss to coat with the sauce.

Serve with rice and veggies.

0.25 cup brown sugar
1 tbs cornstarch
0.25 cup water

Tips
If using two pounds of chicken, double the sauce recipe.
Serve with rice and whatever vegetables you have.
Green onions and sesame seeds are optional garnishes.
