Directions

  1. 1Place a pot on medium-low heat.
  2. 2Add one cup of coconut sugar to the pot.
  3. 3Cook and stir the sugar until it gets sticky.
  4. 4Once the sugar is sticky, add half a cup of water.
  5. 5Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. 6Once it starts to simmer, add one large or three small cinnamon sticks.
  7. 7Add a little bit of lemon skin, lime skin, and orange skin.
  8. 8Add a dash of coriander and a little bit of nutmeg.
  9. 9Let this simmer for five to 10 minutes until it gets thick and all the flavors combine.
  10. 10After 10 minutes, take it off the heat.
  11. 11Strain the mixture into a glass jar to remove the peels and other solids; this is your syrup.
  12. 12Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the syrup.
  13. 13Add half a teaspoon of bitters (ensure it does not have red dye).
  14. 14Let the syrup cool for about 30 minutes.
  15. 15In a cup with ice, combine one part syrup with three parts sparkling water.
  16. 16Stir and enjoy your homemade Coca-Cola.

  • 3 parts sparkling water
  • 1 part syrup
