Banana Pudding
Directions
- 1Separate egg yolks from egg whites.
- 2Mix cornstarch with milk to make a slurry.
- 3Add egg yolks, vanilla extract, and sugar into a saucepan on very low heat.
- 4Whisk constantly while gradually adding milk to the egg mixture.
- 5Slowly add the cornstarch slurry and continue stirring until the pudding thickens.
- 6Turn off the heat and add banana extract, cinnamon, and vanilla bean paste.
- 7Slice bananas.
- 8In a dish, layer Nilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the hot pudding.
- 9Repeat the layers, finishing with the hot pudding.
- 10Top with whipped cream, Nilla wafers, and bananas.
- 11For the new-school version, empty two boxes of banana cream Jell-O instant pudding mix into a bowl.
- 12Add cinnamon, condensed milk, vanilla bean paste, and 5 cups of milk.
- 13Whisk until smooth and thick.
- 14Fold in whipped cream to the pudding mixture.
- 15In a dish, start with a layer of pudding at the bottom.
- 16Place Nilla wafers on the side of the dish.
- 17Add a layer of bananas and more Nilla wafers.
- 18Pour another layer of pudding.
- 19Add Chessmen cookies around the sides and some broken pieces in the middle.
- 20Add sliced bananas on top of the Chessmen cookies.
- 21Pour the final layer of pudding.
- 22Spread whipped cream on top.
- 23Decorate with Chessmen cookies, Nilla wafers, and sliced bananas.
- 24Drizzle with Ghirardelli caramel sauce.
- 25Let the pudding chill overnight.
