Roast jowar on medium heat for about 5 minutes, until golden.

Cool the jowar and grind into a coarse powder.

Add ghee to a pressure cooker, then add whole spices (cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf and cumin seeds) and cashew nuts.

Add chopped ginger and green chillies.

Add carrot, beans and peas.

Saute for 2 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and mix.

Add washed moong dal and mix with the vegetables.

Add turmeric powder, salt and garam masala.

Add powdered jowar and mix.

Add water, bring to a boil, then cover and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.

Serve hot, optionally garnished with roasted cashews.

1 no. carrot
1 cup beans
0.5 cup peas
2 nos tomato
0.5 cup moong dal
0.5 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garam masala
4 cups water

Tips
Jowar, also known as sorghum or great millet, is low in calories but high in fiber and protein.
Jowar is a good choice for weight watchers.
To make it your own, you can add as many veggies as possible.
The dish is great as is, but if you want, you can enjoy it with some nice raita or pickle by the side.
This recipe doesn't include onions or garlic.
