Garlic Knots

Directions

  1. 1Add one cup of very warm water to a bowl.
  2. 2Add a tablespoon of sugar to the bowl.
  3. 3Add two teaspoons of active dry yeast to the bowl.
  4. 4Let the mixture sit until the yeast is activated and producing bubbles.
  5. 5Once yeast is activated, add two tablespoons of olive oil.
  6. 6Add half a teaspoon of salt.
  7. 7Mix the ingredients together.
  8. 8Slowly add about two and a half cups of flour while mixing until it's all combined and tacky but not sticking to your hands.
  9. 9Flour your surface and pour the dough out.
  10. 10Knead the dough for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  11. 11Roll the dough into a ball.
  12. 12Pour a little bit of olive oil into your bowl and grease it nicely, ensuring you get the edges.
  13. 13Scoop up your dough, rub it with a little bit of olive oil, and place it into the greased bowl.
  14. 14Cover the bowl with a bowl cover or a tea towel.
  15. 15Store the covered dough in a warm place and let it rise for two hours.
  16. 16Knead the risen dough for about two minutes.
  17. 17Chop the dough into equal pieces.
  18. 18Roll each piece into a ball.
  19. 19Roll out each ball of dough.
  20. 20Tie each rolled-out piece of dough into a knot, tucking one end up top and the other on the bottom.
  21. 21You can also braid them for a fancy look.
  22. 22Butter up a skillet or use a baking sheet and place the garlic knots in it.
  23. 23Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  24. 24Let the garlic knots sit while the oven is preheating.
  25. 25While the oven is preheating, work on the garlic butter.
  26. 26Mince as many garlic cloves as you desire for the garlic butter.
