  1. 1Get your skillet over medium heat and drop in 3 tablespoons of butter. Once that melts, drop in 3 tablespoons of flour.
  2. 2Stir together to make your roux. Once it starts to brown, pour in 2 cups of chicken broth.
  3. 3Keep stirring until it starts to thicken and everything is incorporated. Then throw in the seasonings.
  4. 4Take a pound of chicken breast and season it on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic.
  5. 5Place the chicken into the gravy, using a spoon to get it all covered up.
  6. 6Let it come to a simmer, throw that lid on, lower the heat, and let it cook for 12–15 minutes.
  7. 7Make yourself some boxed or homemade mashed potatoes.
  8. 8Pull the lid off and shred up the chicken using two forks right in the pan.
  9. 9Stir everything together, lay out a big pile of mashed potatoes and cover with the chicken and gravy.
