Sesame Chicken

Directions

  1. 1Slice your chicken into bite-sized cubes.
  2. 2Crack two eggs.
  3. 3Add in a fat pinch of salt.
  4. 4Add some cornstarch/cornflour.
  5. 5Get in there with your hands and give it a good mix until the chicken is well coated.
  6. 6For your sauce, add ketchup, equal parts soy sauce, a little bit of brown sugar, a fat drizzle of honey, a splash of rice vinegar, three cloves of garlic, just a kiss of sesame oil, a few sesame seeds, and finish with some cornstarch.
  7. 7Mix the sauce ingredients quickly.
  8. 8Fry your chicken in an air fryer or pan until crispy and golden.
  9. 9Whilst your chicken is frying, make sure to get some dips in.
  10. 10In another pan, add the ketchup, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and sesame oil.
  11. 11Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  12. 12Mix the cornflour with a splash of water and stir it into the sauce to thicken.
  13. 13Add some of your sauce.
  14. 14Then add your beautiful chicken and mix until coated in the sauce.
  15. 15Finish with some rice.
  16. 16Just a few more sesame seeds.
  17. 17Finish with spring onion.

  • 500 g chicken thighs, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 60 g cornflour
  • Large pinch salt
  • 60 ml ketchup
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 60 ml honey
  • 12 g brown sugar
  • 10 ml rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 ml sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornflour (to thicken)
  • Pinch sesame seeds

Tips

  • To lighten up the recipe, reduce honey, use less cornflour, or swap chicken thighs for chicken breast.
  • A splash of soy sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice can enhance the flavor of leftovers.
