1Open a 4-pound can of roasted and unsalted peanuts using a can opener.
2Pour approximately half of the peanuts (about 2 pounds) into a food processor.
3Add 2 teaspoons of kosher salt, which is one teaspoon per pound of peanuts.
4Turn on the food processor and process the peanuts until they become like coarse crumbs.
5Remove the lid and scrape down any salt and peanut crumbs that stick to the sides of the food processor.
6Replace the lid and continue to run the food processor for a couple more minutes until the peanut butter reaches the desired smooth texture.
7Transfer the homemade peanut butter into an airtight container.
Ingredients
8 pounds Roasted unsalted peanuts
4 teaspoons Kosher salt
Equipment
Can openerFood processorSpoonAirtight container
Tips
Run the food processor until the desired smoothness is achieved; keep in mind that the smoother the peanut butter, the thinner it will be due to the lack of stabilizers.
The peanut butter will last about two weeks on the countertop and about a month in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
