Combine 2/3 cup of melted and cooled butter, 2/3 cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1 egg in a large mixing bowl for the crust.
Combine 1 cup of flour with 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder in a separate bowl and whisk them together.
Add the flour and cocoa powder mixture to the wet ingredients and combine them.
Transfer the combined crust mixture to the bottom of an 8x8 prepared pan.
Press the crust firmly into the bottom of the pan, making sure it extends to reach all the corners.
Set the crust aside and prepare the middle layer by combining 2 cups of shredded unsweetened coconut, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a measuring cup.
Once combined, pour the coconut mixture on top of the crust layer.
Spread the coconut layer around to ensure all of the crust is covered.
Bake the pan in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
Allow the baked base to cool fully in its pan on a wire cooling rack.
Prepare the chocolate frosting by combining 1/4 cup of softened butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of milk, 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and a healthy splash of vanilla extract in a bowl.
Mix the frosting ingredients well until it forms a thick, stiff frosting.
Once the base is entirely cool, spread the chocolate frosting on top.
Chill the squares in the fridge for at least an hour, or a couple of hours, before cutting them.
Remove the cooled squares from the pan and cut them into desired sizes.
Store the Queen Anne Squares in an airtight container or a ziploc bag in the refrigerator.
