Korean Fried Tofu Sando

Directions

  1. 1Cut the tofu block into a steak.
  2. 2Dredge the tofu in a mixture of flour, cornflour, and salt.
  3. 3Dip the floured tofu into water.
  4. 4Dip the tofu again into the flour mixture to ensure a good coating.
  5. 5Pan-fry the coated tofu until golden brown and crispy.
  6. 6Remove the fried tofu from the pan.
  7. 7Prepare the sticky glaze by adding gochujang, water, soy sauce, agave, and sesame seeds to the pan.
  8. 8Stir the glaze ingredients together and bring to a simmer.
  9. 9Coat the fried tofu in the sticky glaze.
  10. 10Combine the remaining glaze with vegan mayo to create a sauce for the sandwich.
  11. 11Toast the bread slices in the same pan with the glaze residue.
  12. 12Spread the prepared sauce on one slice of toasted bread.
  13. 13Add a layer of white cabbage slaw on top of the sauce.
  14. 14Place the glazed fried tofu on top of the slaw.
  15. 15Add more sauce on top of the tofu.
  16. 16Place the second slice of toasted bread on top to complete the sandwich.
  17. 17Cut the sandwich in half.

  • 1 block Tofu
  • 1 cup Plain flour
  • 0.33 cup Corn flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.5 tbsp Gochujang
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 0.5 tbsp Agave syrup
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 1 cup Shredded cabbage
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 0.5 tbsp Vegan mayo
  • 0.5 tbsp Sticky glaze (for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp Vegan mayo (for sauce)
  • 2 slices Toasted sourdough bread
  • Cold water
  • Oil
