16th Century Butter Beer
Directions
- 1Whisk egg yolks with brown sugar until it's foamy.
- 2Heat British ale with ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a pot.
- 3Ladle a bit of the hot ale mixture into the egg mixture to temper the eggs, then add the egg mixture to the ale.
- 4Mix until the mixture thickens slightly.
- 5Stir in the butter.
- 6Froth it up.

- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 pint British ale
- 1 pinch ginger
- 1 pinch cloves
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 4 tablespoons butter
