Whisk egg yolks with brown sugar until it's foamy.

Heat British ale with ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a pot.

Ladle a bit of the hot ale mixture into the egg mixture to temper the eggs, then add the egg mixture to the ale.

Mix until the mixture thickens slightly.

Stir in the butter.

Froth it up.
