Directions

  1. 1Whisk together warm milk, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, egg, melted butter (not scorching hot), salt, and the yeast mixture.
  3. 3Knead with a dough hook for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth.
  4. 4Lightly coat a bowl with olive oil, add the dough, cover, and rest for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. 5Punch the air out of the dough and transfer it to a clean surface.
  6. 6Use a scale to divide the dough into eight equal pieces.
  7. 7Flatten each piece, fold the sides over to shape into a ball, then roll each ball into an oval shape.
  8. 8Grab the back of the oval, roll it, turn it over, fold the ends in, and pinch the seam to seal.
  9. 9Place the shaped buns seam side down on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  10. 10Rest the shaped buns for another 30 minutes.
  11. 11Bake in the oven for about 18 minutes at 375 degrees F.
  12. 12Finish by brushing with some melted butter after baking.

Tips
