Add 1/2 cup (100g) sugar to the bowl with the eggs.

Add 4 oz (115g) unsalted melted butter to the mixture.

Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the mixture.

Add 1 tablespoon (16g) baking powder to the mixture.

Add 1/4 teaspoon salt to the mixture.

Add 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour to the mixture.

Slice 2 large apples.

Arrange the apple slices peel side down in an 8-inch springform round pan, which has been lined and greased.

Pour 1/4 cup water into a saucepan.

Add 1/2 cup sugar to the saucepan.

Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Pour some of the caramel sauce over the apple slices in the pan.
