Upside-Down Apple Cake

Directions

  1. 1Add 3 large eggs to a bowl.
  2. 2Add 1/2 cup (100g) sugar to the bowl with the eggs.
  3. 3Beat until light and fluffy.
  4. 4Add 4 oz (115g) unsalted melted butter to the mixture.
  5. 5Add 1 cup (240g) plain Greek yogurt to the mixture.
  6. 6Beat well.
  7. 7Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the mixture.
  8. 8Add 1 tablespoon (16g) baking powder to the mixture.
  9. 9Add 1/4 teaspoon salt to the mixture.
  10. 10Mix until just combined.
  11. 11Add 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour to the mixture.
  12. 12Beat until just combined.
  13. 13Slice 2 large apples.
  14. 14Arrange the apple slices peel side down in an 8-inch springform round pan, which has been lined and greased.
  15. 15Pour 1/4 cup water into a saucepan.
  16. 16Add 1/2 cup sugar to the saucepan.
  17. 17Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the saucepan.
  18. 18Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  19. 19Pour some of the caramel sauce over the apple slices in the pan.
  20. 20Spoon the cake batter over the apple slices.
  21. 21Level the batter in the pan.
  22. 22Place the pan on a baking sheet.
  23. 23Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes.
  24. 24Invert the baked cake onto a plate.
  25. 25Remove the baking paper from the cake.
  26. 26Drizzle with more caramel sauce.
  27. 27Serve and enjoy.
