Bifteki (Greek-style burgers)

Directions

  1. 1Grate the red onion and add to a bowl. Finely chop the fresh parsley and mint and add to the same bowl.
  2. 2Add the egg, breadcrumbs, beef mince, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the bowl and mix until well combined.
  3. 3Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and flatten it into a burger shape, smoothing the edges with your palm. Repeat with remaining mince.
  4. 4Heat olive oil in a frying pan over high heat for 2 minutes.
  5. 5Carefully place the burgers in the hot oil and cook for 3-4 minutes on both sides until crispy and golden.
  6. 6Once cooked, place burgers on a plate lined with kitchen roll to drain excess oil.

  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 500 g beef mince
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • Olive oil for shallow frying

Tips

  • Test oil temperature by poking a wooden spoon in the oil and seeing if it fizzes up around it.
