Chicken Chow Mein

Directions

  1. 1Season the thin-sliced chicken breast with black pepper.
  2. 2Set the chicken aside.
  3. 3To make the sauce, mix low-sodium soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, hot sesame oil, sugar, and ground ginger in a measuring cup.
  4. 4Mix the sauce together.
  5. 5Set the sauce aside.
  6. 6Boil water in a pot.
  7. 7Add the chow mein stir-fry noodles to the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes.
  8. 8Drain the noodles using a colander.
  9. 9Rinse the noodles in cold water.
  10. 10Set the noodles aside.
  11. 11Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat.
  12. 12Lay the chicken in a single layer and cook for 2 minutes.
  13. 13Flip the chicken over to the other side and cook for another 2 minutes.
  14. 14Remove the browned chicken from the heat.
  15. 15To the same oil in the skillet, add the onion, red bell pepper, and celery.
  16. 16Cook the vegetables for a couple of minutes.
  17. 17Add the shredded carrots and shredded cabbage to the vegetables.
  18. 18Mix and cook for another 2 minutes.
  19. 19Add the minced garlic cloves and cook for about 30 seconds.
  20. 20Add the prepared sauce to the vegetables.
  21. 21Mix the sauce with the vegetables.
  22. 22Add the cooked noodles to the skillet.
  23. 23Mix the noodles with the vegetables and sauce.
  24. 24Add the cooked chicken to the noodles and vegetables.
  25. 25Mix everything together.
  26. 26Serve the chicken chow mein.

  • 8 oz chow mein stir fry noodles
  • 0.5 onion
  • 1 small red bell pepper
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1.5 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp oil
