Newfoundland Christmas Slush

Directions

  1. 1Pour 7.5 cups of water into a big pot.
  2. 2Add 1.5 cups of granulated sugar to the pot.
  3. 3Stir the water and sugar with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves.
  4. 4Add one can of concentrated frozen orange juice to the pot.
  5. 5Add one can of concentrated frozen lemonade to the pot.
  6. 6Pour 1 liter of pineapple juice into the pot.
  7. 7Add one bottle of vodka to the pot.
  8. 8Stir the mixture well.
  9. 9Pour the mixture into a retro Tupperware container or an original salt beef bucket.
  10. 10Cover the container and freeze overnight in the deep freezer.
  11. 11Remove the frozen slush from the freezer and scrape it with a spoon to create a slushy consistency.
  12. 12Scoop the slush into glasses.
  13. 13Add maraschino cherries to taste.
  14. 14Top with 7 Up.
  15. 15Add straws and serve.

Tips

  • Use warm water to dissolve the sugar easily when stirring.
  • The slush needs to freeze overnight in the freezer.
  • Do not put the bucket back into the deep freeze if you will be drinking a lot of slush; just leave it outside on the front step or patio to keep it cool.
  • You can use Sprite, ginger ale, or even an orange, lime, or pineapple crush instead of 7 Up.
