Add one cup of white sugar to a pot.

Toast the sugar on medium heat until it turns an amber color.

Lower the heat and add a quarter cup of hot water.

Once the sugar is melted, add in six tablespoons of salted butter.

Mix this until the butter is fully melted.

Remove the sauce from the heat and add in half a cup of heavy cream.

Add one teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Add a pinch of salt.

Mix this all together.

Pour the sauce into a jar.

0.5 cup heavy cream

Tips
Do not overtoast the sugar, otherwise it will burn and the caramel brûlée sauce will taste very bitter.
If you end up using cold water at this point, the sugar will seize and it will be really hard for it to melt.
If the sugar does crystallize a little, you can add in an additional quarter cup of hot water.
The sauce will thicken as it cools.
The sauce should be stored in the fridge and should be good for about 2 to 3 weeks.
