Directions

  1. 1Press a block of extra firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove extra moisture.
  2. 2Tear the pressed tofu into bite-sized chunks.
  3. 3Toss the tofu with oil, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt.
  4. 4Toss the tofu in cornstarch or potato starch until fully coated.
  5. 5Air fry the tofu at 400° for about 20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. 6In the meantime, make some steamed rice.
  7. 7Mince garlic and ginger, and slice a few scallions for the orange sauce.
  8. 8Mix half a cup of orange juice with soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, some cornstarch, and orange zest.
  9. 9To a cold pan, add a drizzle of oil, optional red pepper flakes, and your aromatics.
  10. 10Let them heat up together so the garlic doesn't burn.
  11. 11When everything is fragrant, pour in your sauce and let it simmer to thicken.
  12. 12Once the tofu is crispy, toss it into the thickened orange sauce to coat.
  13. 13Finish with a little splash of toasted sesame oil and fresh scallions.
  14. 14Serve with rice and either steamed greens or a smashed cucumber salad.
