- 1Butter the cast iron skillet all around.
- 2Place a pie crust into the buttered cast iron skillet.
- 3Cut extra pie crust into strips to layer around the perimeter of the skillet.
- 4Add the pie crust strips around the perimeter of the skillet.
- 5Drain the cans of peaches and place them in a bowl.
- 6Add one cup of brown sugar to the peaches.
- 7Add two cups of white sugar to the peaches.
- 8Add vanilla extract to the peaches and sugar mixture.
- 9Add a little salted caramel syrup (optional) to the mixture.
- 10Add nutmeg to the mixture.
- 11Add cinnamon to the mixture.
- 12Mix all the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly with a light hand.
- 13Pour the peach mixture into the pie crust-lined cast iron skillet.
- 14Add pieces of butter on top of the peach mixture.
- 15Cut the remaining pie crust into strips.
- 16Weave the pie crust strips into a lattice pattern on top of the peaches.
- 17Brush melted butter over the top pie crust.
- 18Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the pie crust.
- 19Bake the cobbler in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes.
- 20Let the cobbler rest for 30 minutes to cool before serving.
