Directions

  1. 1Wash the tomatoes.
  2. 2Boil the tomatoes in a large pot.
  3. 3Use a wooden paddle to crush the boiled tomatoes in a cheesecloth bag to remove excess water.
  4. 4Pass the crushed tomatoes through a food mill.
  5. 5Add salt and basil to the tomato sauce.
  6. 6Boil the sauce.
  7. 7Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. 8Pour the sauce into jars.

  • 20 bushels tomatoes
  • 1 container salt
  • 1 handful basil
