Large Pita Breads

Directions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix your flour and yogurt until it becomes shaggy.
  2. 2Pour the dough out onto a floured work surface and knead for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. 3The dough will look like this, cover and rest for 10 to 20 minutes.
  4. 4On a well-floured surface, cut the dough into 8 or 10 pieces.
  5. 5Fold the dough inwards to create a rough ball.
  6. 6Dip both sides of the dough in flour and roll it out as thin as you can, adding more flour if it starts feeling sticky.
  7. 7Once you've rolled them out, make sure you lay them on a floured surface.
  8. 8Preheat your frying pan until it's really warm.
  9. 9Brush off any excess flour you can and throw it in the pan.
  10. 10Press it down on the first side, flip it over and press it down again.
  11. 11Keep flipping it every 15 seconds.
  12. 12Once they're cooked, add them to a bowl with a tea towel and cover them up to keep them warm and soft.

Ingredients

  • 280 g Natural Yogurt
  • 350 g Self Raising Flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Tips

  • Wipe down the excess flour off the frying pan in between each pita.
  • Press down the first two sides to help the pita breads puff up.
