Directions
1
Start by cooking a pound of your favorite breakfast sausage in a cast iron skillet.
2
Add 8 to 10 pieces of bacon to the skillet and cook.
3
Once cooked, place the sausage and bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
4
Grab a loaf of country white bread.
5
You'll only need half a loaf of bread.
6
Spread the bread pieces out and put butter on top of them.
7
Cut the buttered bread into half-inch cubes.
8
Transfer the bread cubes to a bowl and set them aside.
9
Get a mixing bowl.
10
Drop in eight whole eggs.
11
Add 2 and 2/3 cups of whole milk.
12
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt.
13
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of dry mustard.
14
Add 1 teaspoon of dry parsley.
15
Add 1/4 teaspoon of paprika.
16
Add 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
17
Whisk the egg mixture until perfectly combined.
18
Set the egg mixture aside.
19
Grab a 9x13 greased baking dish.
20
Add the bread cubes to the bottom of the baking dish.
21
Top the bread cubes with the sausage crumbles.
22
Take the bacon out of your warmer and crumble it on top.
23
Add almost all of the 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
24
Pour the egg mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.
25
Use a wooden spoon to ensure all the bread cubes are soaked.
26
Put the rest of the cheese on top.
27
Cover the baking dish in foil.
28
Place the covered casserole in the fridge until tomorrow morning.
29
On Christmas morning, remove the foil.
30
Bake the casserole in the oven at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
31
Once baked, it will look and smell amazing.
32
You can top it with sour cream or your favorite hot sauce.
