Christmas Morning Casserole

Directions

  1. 1Start by cooking a pound of your favorite breakfast sausage in a cast iron skillet.
  2. 2Add 8 to 10 pieces of bacon to the skillet and cook.
  3. 3Once cooked, place the sausage and bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
  4. 4Grab a loaf of country white bread.
  5. 5You'll only need half a loaf of bread.
  6. 6Spread the bread pieces out and put butter on top of them.
  7. 7Cut the buttered bread into half-inch cubes.
  8. 8Transfer the bread cubes to a bowl and set them aside.
  9. 9Get a mixing bowl.
  10. 10Drop in eight whole eggs.
  11. 11Add 2 and 2/3 cups of whole milk.
  12. 12Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt.
  13. 13Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of dry mustard.
  14. 14Add 1 teaspoon of dry parsley.
  15. 15Add 1/4 teaspoon of paprika.
  16. 16Add 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
  17. 17Whisk the egg mixture until perfectly combined.
  18. 18Set the egg mixture aside.
  19. 19Grab a 9x13 greased baking dish.
  20. 20Add the bread cubes to the bottom of the baking dish.
  21. 21Top the bread cubes with the sausage crumbles.
  22. 22Take the bacon out of your warmer and crumble it on top.
  23. 23Add almost all of the 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
  24. 24Pour the egg mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.
  25. 25Use a wooden spoon to ensure all the bread cubes are soaked.
  26. 26Put the rest of the cheese on top.
  27. 27Cover the baking dish in foil.
  28. 28Place the covered casserole in the fridge until tomorrow morning.
  29. 29On Christmas morning, remove the foil.
  30. 30Bake the casserole in the oven at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
  31. 31Once baked, it will look and smell amazing.
  32. 32You can top it with sour cream or your favorite hot sauce.
  33. 33Add some pocket parsley.
  34. 34Use a spatula to cut a piece out and place it on a plate.
  35. 35Grab a fork and scoop up a big bite.
