1Prepare the batter using a food processor or a bowl with a whisk.
2Add 280g of flour, a pinch of salt, three whole eggs, 350g of milk, 100ml of vegetable oil, and a tablespoon of baking powder (or a teaspoon for a thinner sandwich).
3Mix at a high speed until you get a smooth, semi-liquid batter, similar to a savory cake batter.
4Take a rectangular baking tin, about 20 x 30 cm, and lightly grease it if necessary.
5Pour half of the batter into the bottom of the tin.
6Add a layer of ham, prosciutto, or other cured meat.
7Follow with a layer of about 200g of grated or sliced cheese (like mozzarella).
8Pour the remaining batter over the filling to cover it completely.
9Optionally, add a little freshly grated Parmesan on top for extra flavor.
10Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes, keeping a close eye until the top is well risen and nicely golden brown.
11Carefully turn the sandwich over so the perfectly smooth bottom faces up.
12Cut it into square or rectangular slices.

Tips
If you prefer a slightly thinner sandwich, you can reduce the baking powder to a teaspoon.
The traditional version works well with sliced cheese instead of grated mozzarella.
You can add a second layer of ham if you like, but it's not necessary.
Keep a close eye on it until the end of baking; the top should be well risen and nicely golden brown.
Turning it over so the smooth bottom faces up makes it look pretty.
This recipe is adaptable; you can replace ham with chicken, turkey, or vegetarian options, and add ingredients like corn kernels, olives, or other vegetables/condiments.
