Directions

  1. 1Start by browning 2 pounds of ground beef in a pan, breaking it up with a meat mallet.
  2. 2Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder while it cooks.
  3. 3While the beef is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil for the tortellini.
  4. 4Once the ground beef is cooked, use paper towels held with tongs to soak up excess oil.
  5. 5Mix in one and a half jars of your favorite pasta sauce (Rao's Homemade Marinara is recommended) with the cooked ground beef.
  6. 6Add a full block of cream cheese to the meat sauce and stir until it melts and combines fully.
  7. 7Add the family-size three-cheese tortellini to the boiling salted water and cook according to package instructions (about 5 minutes).
  8. 8Place the cooked and strained tortellini into a baking dish.
  9. 9Carefully pour the meat sauce on top of the tortellini in the baking dish.
  10. 10Give the tortellini and sauce a good stir to combine everything.
  11. 11Top the dish with sliced block mozzarella cheese (or shredded mozzarella).
  12. 12Pop the dish in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to melt the cheese on top.
  13. 13For the last couple of minutes, put the broiler on to make the cheese slightly crispy.
  14. 14Serve and optionally add red pepper flakes or Parmesan cheese.
