Poppy Seed Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Get one and a half cups of warm milk.
  2. 2Add half of a tablespoon of dry yeast.
  3. 3Add one tablespoon of sugar and one tablespoon of flour.
  4. 4Mix it up and let it stand at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  5. 5Add yeast mixture to the bowl.
  6. 6Add one fourth of a cup of melted butter.
  7. 7Add one egg.
  8. 8Add one fourth of a cup of sugar.
  9. 9Add one teaspoon of salt.
  10. 10Add one teaspoon of vanilla and four cups of flour.

  25. 25Line your baking tray with parchment paper or silicone mat and transfer the rolls.

  27. 27Make egg wash, which is just one egg with one tablespoon of water.
  28. 28Generously brush it on top.
  29. 29Bake at 375 for 20 to 30 minutes.

Tips

  • Make sure the butter is not too hot because heat might kill the yeast
  • Dough should be about 1/5 of an inch thick when rolling
  • Make sure poppy seeds are at room temperature
  • Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds so the water covers them completely. Let them sit in the water for 10 minutes. Drain the water and rinse them under cold water.
  • Let the filling cool down completely before using.
