Single-Serve Hot Chocolate

Directions

  1. 1Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces.
  2. 2Add unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt to a saucepan.
  3. 3In Italy, cornstarch is added to the hot chocolate.
  4. 4To avoid lumps, make a slurry.
  5. 5Gradually pour the cold milk into the dry ingredients while continuously stirring to prevent clumping.
  6. 6Bring the milk to a simmer, stirring often.
  7. 7Turn off the heat completely and stir in the chopped chocolate.
  8. 8Pour into your serving mug, top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

  • 7 g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 15 g Sugar
  • Pinch Salt
  • 0.5 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 5 g Cornstarch

Tips

  • The finer the chocolate is chopped, the faster it will melt into the hot milk.
  • Dairy milk is the preferred choice as it is more indulgent than other milks.
  • To avoid lumps, create a slurry with the milk before adding it to the sauce pan.
