Directions

  1. 1Soak fenugreek powder in water.
  2. 2Wash the lamb or beef.
  3. 3Chop the onion.
  4. 4Add chopped onion to a pot.
  5. 5Add lamb or beef to the pot with onions.
  6. 6Add peppercorns to the pot.
  7. 7Add mixed spices (Yemeni hawayji) to the pot, including turmeric, cumin, black pepper, cardamom, and clove.
  8. 8Stir the ingredients in the pot.
  9. 9Add chopped tomatoes to the pot.
  10. 10Add red chili to the pot.
  11. 11Heat oil in a pan.
  12. 12Add chopped onions to the pan.
  13. 13Grate garlic and green chili into the pan with onions.
  14. 14Stir the ingredients in the pan.
  15. 15Add tomato paste to the pan.
  16. 16Add mixed spices to the pan.
  17. 17Stir the ingredients in the pan to create the salta base.
  18. 18Cook the lamb/beef until tender.
  19. 19Wash a potato.
  20. 20Add the washed potato to the cooked lamb/beef.
  21. 21Chop green herbs (coriander, parsley, spring onion).
  22. 22Place green herbs, garlic, green chili, cumin, and salt into a blender.
  23. 23Add water to the blender.
  24. 24Blend the ingredients until smooth to create the green herb salsa.
  25. 25Whip the soaked fenugreek until fluffy.
  26. 26Add the green herb salsa to the whipped fenugreek.
  27. 27Whisk the fenugreek and green herb salsa together.
  28. 28Transfer the cooked lamb/beef with its broth into a hot stone bowl.
  29. 29Pour the whipped fenugreek and green herb salsa over the salta.
  30. 30Serve salta with bread.

  • 0.25 teaspoon clove
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onions
  • 1 garlic
  • 1 to 2 green chili
  • 2 vine chopped tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Yemeni hawayji (mixed spices)
  • salt
  • 2 egg
  • 0.5 bunch coriander leaves
  • 0.5 bunch parsley leaves
  • 1 bunch green part of spring onions
  • 2 garlic
  • 2 to 4 green chili
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
