Butter Syrup for Pancakes

Directions

  1. 1Place one stick of unsalted butter in a high-sided pan over medium heat.
  2. 2Add one cup of maple syrup to the pan.
  3. 3Add 1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream to the pan.
  4. 4Bring the mixture to a low boil, stirring frequently.
  5. 5Reduce heat to a low simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens.
  6. 6Remove from heat.
  7. 7Stir in one teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  8. 8If the syrup is not thick enough, stir in a quarter teaspoon of baking soda.
  9. 9Pour the butter syrup over pancakes and serve.
