Directions

  1. 1Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. 2Add crushed garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. 3Whisk in heavy cream and whole milk, heating until warm, without boiling.
  4. 4Add salt, smoked paprika, and black pepper, and whisk to incorporate.
  5. 5Gradually whisk in the shredded sharp cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese until melted.
  6. 6In a greased 13x9 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  7. 7Ladle half of the cheese sauce over the first layer of potatoes.
  8. 8Layer the remaining potatoes, then pour the rest of the cheese sauce over the top.
  9. 9Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the casserole.
  10. 10Cover with foil and bake at 325 degrees for 60 minutes.
  11. 11Remove foil and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4-5 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 4-5 whole russet potato, thinly sliced

Tips

  • Spray the foil with oil before covering so it doesn't stick to the cheese.
  • Add grated nutmeg to the sauce for extra flavor.
