Cut the bacon strips in half.

Lay the bacon on a parchment-lined cookie sheet with a cooling rack on top.

Bake the bacon in the oven at 375°F until partially cooked but still bendable.

Remove bacon from the oven, dab with a paper towel, and let rest.

Melt the butter, then mix in the maple syrup, a sprinkle of cayenne, and a generous amount of cracked black pepper.

Roll out and separate the crescent rolls, then cut each triangle in half lengthwise.

Spread a light layer of whipped chive cream cheese on the dough.

Place a piece of bacon on top of the cream cheese and brush with the maple-butter mixture.

Roll up the crescent rolls and place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.

Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining maple-butter mixture.

Bake at 375°F until the tops are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the pan.
