Chocolate Caramel Candies

Directions

  1. 1Melt down the butter in a pot.
  2. 2When the butter has completely melted, add in the brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Mix it up until it's all combined.
  3. 3Now add in the light corn syrup and mix it up.
  4. 4Now mix in the sweetened condensed milk, a little bit at a time.
  5. 5Now add in the dark chocolate chips and keep mixing until the chocolate has completely melted and mixed in.
  6. 6Add a candy thermometer because you want to reach 245 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a firm ball stage. So just continuously mix this up and cook it until it reaches a firm ball stage.
  7. 7Remove the caramel from the heat.
  8. 8Mix in the vanilla.
  9. 9Now carefully pour it into a 9x9 inch square pan.
  10. 10Allow it to cool and then cut it up.
  11. 11Once the caramel has cooled enough, just remove it from the pan and cut it up to the size you like.
  12. 12Make strips of caramel.
  13. 13Then cut them into bite-sized portions, as big or as little as you like.
  14. 14Take a piece of wax paper, put your candy in the center, wrap it up, and twist it up.
