Slowcooker Beef Stifado & Orzo

Directions

  1. 1Add the beef, herbs, carrots, onion, tomato purée, red wine, garlic purée, chopped tomatoes, and beef stock into the slow cooker.
  2. 2Cover and cook on high for 3 hours.
  3. 3Add 330g of orzo and an additional 700ml of beef stock to the slow cooker.
  4. 4Cook on high for another 45 minutes.
  5. 5Serve and top with Parmesan and fresh basil.

  • 1 can chopped tomatoes

  • 100 ml red wine
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 x bay leaves
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 4 x garlic cloves
  • Salt

  • 700 ml beef stock

Tips

  • The pasta cooks in the sauce, so there is no need to boil it separately.
  • You can use penne or tagliatelle instead of orzo.
  • Different shapes of pasta may require more stock, which can be added if needed.
