7 Spice Cheese Steak

Directions

  1. 1Melt down some beef tallow on one side of a flat top.
  2. 2On medium heat, throw down some onions and a couple of green peppers to start cooking on the side.
  3. 3Add cumin, coriander, allspice, cardamom, chipotle chili powder, smoked paprika, and garlic to the onions and peppers.
  4. 4Add a jalapeno for some spice and a pinch of salt, then continue to soften the vegetables.
  5. 5When the vegetables begin to blister and pop, slide them over.
  6. 6Melt down a tiny bit more tallow.
  7. 7Spread out the steak and let it get a beautiful Maillard reaction.
  8. 8Once you see some color on the steak, start chopping it up.
  9. 9Lower the heat and hit the steak with the seven-spice rub.
  10. 10Add the proper amount of salt to the steak.
  11. 11Combine the steak with the onions, peppers, and jalapenos.
  12. 12Add banana pepper and chopped sweet peppers.
  13. 13Let the mixture melt with some Cooper sharp cheese.
  14. 14Help the cheese melt with a little steam.
  15. 15Slice up a hoagie roll and let it steam down with the meat.
  16. 16Go over the roll with parchment.
  17. 17Slide under the hoagie with a spatula and flip it.

  • 2 pounds Steak
  • 2 10 in large hoagie rolls
  • 4 smaller hoagie rolls
  • Tallow or oil to cook
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large bell pepper
  • 1 jalapeño
  • 0.5 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp chipotle chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • 0.25 cup banana peppers
  • 0.25 cup sweet cherry peppers
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar
  • Store bought Cheese wiz

Tips

  • The key to an amazing cheesesteak is really nice and thin beef. Ribeye, strip, or sirloin can be used.
  • Add salt directly on the steak to get the perfect amount.
  • A little steam can help the cheese melt.
