Cheddar Bay Buttermilk Swim Biscuits

Directions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  2. 2Sift and weigh 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour into a large bowl.
  3. 3Add 4 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp Old Bay, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, and 1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar to the bowl.
  4. 4Add 2 tbsp of freshly chopped chives and 1/2 c of shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the bowl.
  5. 5Mix all dry ingredients with a large fork.
  6. 6Add 2 cups of buttermilk and mix until combined; do not overmix.
  7. 7Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in an 8x11 baking dish in the preheated oven.
  8. 8Pour the batter into the melted butter-lined baking dish and spread evenly.
  9. 9Bake for 10 minutes, then use a knife to cut the dough into biscuits.
  10. 10Continue baking for another 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. 11Remove from the oven, add more chives and butter, and bake for another 5 minutes.
  12. 12Serve and enjoy!
