In a medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar and all-purpose flour.

Add half of the milk to the mixture and whisk until smooth.

Add the remaining milk.

Turn the burner on medium heat and continue to whisk until the mixture thickens into a paste.

Remove the paste from heat and place it in the fridge to cool to room temperature.

While the milk paste is cooling, cream up a cup of butter in a bowl.

Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the creamed butter.

Add the cooled milk paste to the butter mixture.

Mix the frosting on high for about 10 minutes until it's light and fluffy.

Tips
You want real butter for this recipe, not margarine.
Whisk continuously to make sure you don't scorch the bottom of the saucepan.
