Directions

  1. 1Thinly slice some green onions.
  2. 2Soak the green onions in ice water to make them curl up into beautiful ribbons.

  4. 4Lay the ginger all over the fish (cod or any white fish).
  5. 5Mix 1/4 cup of soy sauce with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
  6. 6Carefully pour the sauce into the base of the fish.
  7. 7Set up a steamer station by placing a wire steaming rack in a wok with boiling water at the bottom.
  8. 8Add the plate of fish right on top of the steamer rack.
  9. 9Cover and leave on medium heat for about 7 minutes or until the fish flakes.
  10. 10While the fish is steaming, heat up 3 tablespoons of neutral oil (avocado oil is used here) and 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a separate pan.
  11. 11Check if the oil is ready by using a wooden chopstick; it should be bubbling.
  12. 12Dry the green onions on a paper towel.
  13. 13Scatter the dried green onions all over the fish.
  14. 14Pour the hot oil all over the green onions and ginger on the fish.
