Directions

  1. 1Start by crumbling and slightly mashing some medium-firm tofu into a bowl.
  2. 2Add dark soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, Chinese 5 spice powder, sugar, white pepper, and a pinch of MSG to the tofu.
  3. 3Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  4. 4Add a little bit of neutral oil to a dry pan and spread the seasoned tofu mixture evenly.
  5. 5Cook the tofu on medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes.
  6. 6While the tofu cooks, chop some ginger.
  7. 7Chop garlic cloves.
  8. 8Chop the white part of spring onions.
  9. 9Add the chopped ginger, garlic, and spring onions to the pan with the cooking tofu.
  10. 10Continue to cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the tofu chunks dry out and become meaty.
  11. 11Boil Chinese noodles in a pot of water.
  12. 12While the noodles are boiling, prepare the sauce in a separate bowl.
  13. 13Add sesame paste, chili crisp, sesame oil, light soy sauce, sugar, and black vinegar to the bowl.
