Oven Baked Doughnuts

Directions

  1. 1Combine flour, salt, sugar, yeast, butter, milk, and vanilla in a bowl.
  2. 2Mix with a spatula until it’s a dough and then knead it using a mixer or your hands for 5-8 minutes.
  3. 3Cover the bowl with a piece of clingfilm and let it proof for 2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
  4. 4Move the dough to a floured working surface and flatten it to about 1.5/2cm thick.
  5. 5Cut them into your desired shapes, using an empty pickle jar and a large piping tip for doughnut shapes.
  6. 6Transfer them onto a lined baking tray and let them rest for 20 minutes.
  7. 7Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.
  8. 8Bake the doughnuts for 10-15 minutes, until they look golden brown.
  9. 9Dip them into a bowl of melted butter and then into a bowl of sugar to give it a nice sugary coating.
  10. 10Leave them to cool completely.
  11. 11To fill, put your filling in a piping bag with any metal tip.
  12. 12Cut through the center of the doughnut without piercing the back, wiggling the knife back and forth to make sure there’s space all around.
  13. 13Pipe in the filling, stopping when you feel the filling push back to ensure you don’t overfill.
