Flan

Directions

  1. 1Add one cup of sugar to the saucepan.
  2. 2Heat it on a medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. 3Mix it up until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. 4Pour that sugar directly into an 8-inch round pan.
  5. 5Tilt the pan back and forth to get an even layer of caramel on the bottom of your pan.
  6. 6Set it aside and let it cool and harden.
  7. 7Blend up four eggs.
  8. 8Add half a teaspoon of vanilla.
  9. 9Add one can of sweetened condensed milk.
  10. 10Add one can of evaporated milk.
  11. 11Blend this until it’s completely smooth.
  12. 12Pour your mixture through a sieve into the pan of hardened caramel.
  13. 13Cover it with some foil.
  14. 14Put your pan in a water bath by placing it into another pan and adding hot water halfway up the sides.
  15. 15Bake it at 350 degrees for one hour.
  16. 16Allow it to cool.
  17. 17Put it in the refrigerator and chill it for 8 hours or overnight.
  18. 18Run a knife along the edges to help loosen it up.
  19. 19Add a plate and flip it over.
  20. 20Use a torch to heat up the bottom.
  21. 21Cut a piece.

Tips

  • Be extra careful because sugar burns are so bad.
  • Heat the bottom of the pan with a torch or a blow dryer, or dip the pan in hot water before flipping, to release the flan.
