Directions
- 1Crack 4 eggs into a large glass bowl.
- 2Add 1 cup of sugar to the bowl.
- 3Cut open a carton of buttermilk and pour 175 ml into the bowl.
- 4Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the mixture.
- 5Add 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to a separate large glass bowl.
- 6Add 1 tsp of baking powder to the bowl with cocoa powder.
- 7Add 2 cups of flour to the bowl with cocoa powder.
- 8Sift the dry ingredients.
- 9Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- 10Grease a square cake pan with cooking spray.
- 11Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pans.
- 12Bake the cake in the oven.
- 13Remove the baked cakes from the oven and place them on a cooling rack.
- 14Unwrap 3 sticks of butter and place them in a large glass bowl.
- 15Open 2 bags of powdered sugar and add them to the butter.
- 16Add 2 tbsp of milk and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the butter and powdered sugar.
- 17Mix the frosting ingredients using a hand mixer until creamy.
- 18Place one cake layer on a serving platter and spread a generous amount of frosting on top using an offset spatula.
- 19Repeat with remaining cake layers and frosting.
- 20Apply a final layer of frosting to the top of the cake using a piping bag and an offset spatula.
- 21Roll out white fondant and cut it into strips and squares to cover the sides and top of the cake, creating a pixelated look.
- 22Cut red fondant into small squares and place them on top of the white fondant to mimic the design of a Minecraft cake.
