Garlic Steak Fried Rice

Directions

  1. 1Roughly dice your onion along with finely mincing some garlic.
  2. 2Take your steak and slice it into half-inch cubes.
  3. 3Marinate the steak in soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and cornstarch for 15 minutes.
  4. 4While your beef is marinating, combine dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce, white pepper, and some optional MSG in a bowl, and mix thoroughly.
  5. 5Generously lube up your pan, toss your garlic in and stir continuously for 3 minutes on medium-high heat.
  6. 6Remove the garlic once golden brown.
  7. 7In the leftover garlic oil, fry your beef on high heat for 2 minutes.
  8. 8Remove the beef and add in your onion.
  9. 9After your onions have cooked for a minute, add in your day-old rice as well as your sauce and mix until the sauce is absorbed into the rice.
  10. 10Now add your steak in, give everything a light toss and finish with half of your fried garlic and toss it one more time.
  11. 11Finally, place the rice in a bowl and top with your garlic.
  12. 12Optionally garnish with scallions.

  • 1 tsp shaoxing wine
  • 0.5 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 0.25 tsp white pepper
  • 1 pinch MSG
  • 2 cups day-old rice
  • neutral oil
  • scallions
