Baked Beans

Directions

  1. 1Add dry navy beans to a large pot.
  2. 2Cover the beans with water and bring to a boil.
  3. 3Chop the large onions into small pieces.
  4. 4Sauté the chopped onions in a pot until softened.
  5. 5Arrange bacon strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. 6Bake the bacon until crispy.
  7. 7Chop the cooked bacon into small pieces.
  8. 8Pour ketchup into the pot with sautéed onions.
  9. 9Add brown sugar to the pot.
  10. 10Add molasses to the pot.
  11. 11Add apple cider vinegar to the pot.
  12. 12Add Dijon mustard to the pot.
  13. 13Add allspice to the pot.
  14. 14Add salt to the pot.
  15. 15Add pepper to the pot.
  16. 16Stir all the sauce ingredients together in the pot.
  17. 17Add the cooked navy beans to the sauce.
  18. 18Stir the beans into the sauce until well combined.
  19. 19Fill canning jars with the baked beans using a canning funnel.
  20. 20Clean the rims of the jars.
  21. 21Place lids on the jars.
  22. 22Place the filled jars into an electric pressure canner.
  23. 23Start the pressure canner.
  24. 24Remove the processed jars from the canner.

  • 1.5 tsp allspice
  • 2.5 tsp pepper
