Optimized Turmeric and Ginger Shots

Directions

  1. 1Start with brewed green tea and nettle tea.
  2. 2Add about 3 tablespoons of good quality olive oil.
  3. 3Pulse the mixture once in the blender to coat the blender with oil.
  4. 4Add whole lemons with skin on.
  5. 5Add a whole organic lime.
  6. 6Add a pinch of Celtic sea salt.
  7. 7Blitz the mixture up.
  8. 8Add ginger and turmeric.
  9. 9Blitz it up again.
  10. 10Strain the mixture immediately to reduce staining risk.
  11. 11After straining, add black pepper.

Tips

  • Curcumin in turmeric is fat soluble and needs a fat like olive oil for absorption.
  • Piperine in black pepper increases curcumin absorption up to 2,000%.
  • Use whole lemons and limes with skin on for D-limonene and bioflavonoids.
  • Green tea and nettle base provide antioxidants and trace minerals.
  • You don't need to strain the shots for extra fiber.
  • The pulp can be blended again with water/tea, added to recipes, or steeped for ginger tea.
  • Store in the fridge for under 10 days or freeze in ice cube trays.
  • For a daily shot, add a frozen cube to warm water (not hot).
