Combine three cups of flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, and one teaspoon of salt.
Add half a cup of unsalted butter to the dry ingredients.
Mush the butter into the flour mixture with your hands until it looks like sand.
Gradually add one cup of hot water, a little at a time, smashing it all together with your hands for at least five minutes until it no longer sticks to your hands.
Knead the dough for an additional 10 minutes, massaging and flipping it.
Place the kneaded dough on a countertop and cover it with Saran wrap or a kitchen towel for 20 minutes to rest, ensuring it is sealed.
After 20 minutes, separate the dough into approximately 12 portions using your thumb and index finger to determine the size, forming perfect little balls (bolitas) by cupping your hand on the countertop.
Lightly pour a little bit of flour over the bolitas.
Place a bolita on top of the flour on the countertop and use a rolling pin to roll it out into a tortilla, applying pressure front and back, then turning it sideways and repeating.
Once the tortilla is sufficiently large, cook it on a very hot pan for no more than 20 to 30 seconds on each side until it starts to bubble up.
