Directions

  1. 1Measure out your coffee and water using a general rule of 1g of coffee to approximately 17ml of water. For this recipe, use 30g of coffee and 500ml of water.
  2. 2Grind your coffee to a medium grind size, similar to beach sand.
  3. 3Take a paper filter and place it inside the cone of the Moccamaster.
  4. 4Add the ground coffee to the filter paper, making sure it is nice, flat, and even for even extraction.
  5. 5Add 500ml of water to the water reservoir, filling it up to the number four line on the Moccamaster.
  6. 6Start brewing by hitting the switch; the cold water will drop into the heating element and then pour over the coffee grounds.
  7. 7Once brewing is finished, pour yourself a cup and enjoy.

Tips

  • Use a medium grind size, similar to beach sand, to avoid bitter or weak coffee.
  • Ensure the ground coffee is flat and even in the filter for a nice even extraction.
  • When brewing, if the coffee is fresh, a lot of gases will be released in the first 30-45 seconds, which allows for transparency in the cup.
