Directions

  1. 1Slice one large red onion thinly.
  2. 2Chop potatoes into small pieces.
  3. 3Add sliced onions and chopped potatoes into a bowl.
  4. 4Add chopped green chillies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, besan, rice flour, and salt to the bowl.
  5. 5Mix the ingredients well.
  6. 6Slowly add water to form a batter, ensuring it's not too runny.
  7. 7Add a pinch of baking soda at the end and mix well.
  8. 8Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3-4 minutes.
  9. 9Spray some oil on the air fryer tray.
  10. 10Make small to medium-sized pakoras and place them on the air fryer tray with some space in between.
  11. 11Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 5 minutes, then flip them.
  12. 12Brush or spray some oil on top of the pakoras and air fry again for 4-5 minutes.
  13. 13Serve the pakoras with green chutney.

  • 1 generous pinch garam masala

  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • 3 tbsp water
  • chopped cilantro
  • chaat masala
  • 1 pinch ajwain

Tips

  • Oven will take more time than airfryer; oven usually takes double the cooking time of an airfryer.
  • If you add extra water to the batter, add some more rice flour.
  • Spraying oil ensures the pakoras don't stick to the airfryer basket.
  • You can use parchment paper if you don't want to use any oil.
  • Brushing a little oil on top is recommended to prevent the pakoras from becoming too dry.
  • Serve with green chutney.
