Directions
1
In a glass measuring cup, combine 1 1/4 cup of warm milk, 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.
2
In a large bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1/3 cup of melted butter, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
3
Add the milk-yeast mixture to the bowl and whisk.
4
Add 4 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and knead with an electric mixer for 5 minutes until the dough is slightly tacky.
5
Grease a bowl with olive oil, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour to double in size.
6
Once doubled, sprinkle some flour on a clean surface and place the dough on it.
7
Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
8
Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter and place them on parchment paper squares.
9
Let the donuts rise for another 45 minutes.
10
Heat about a cup of oil in a small saucepan on an induction burner.
11
Fry the donuts for about 45 seconds on each side until they are golden brown. Use chopsticks to turn them.
12
While the donuts cool, make the icing by mixing together 1 cup of powdered sugar and enough milk to create a glaze.
13
Dip the cooled donuts in the icing and let the icing harden.
